Privacy policy

You Matter Nashville is a podcast and website published by Jason and Mindy Hoover in Middle Tennessee. This page explains, in plain language, what happens to your information here. There is not a great deal of it, and none of it is sold.

What you send us

Three things on this site ask you to type something. The contact form takes your name, your email, and your message. The nomination form takes the nominee's name, their organization and a link if you have one, why you are nominating them, whether they know about it, and your own name and email. The newsletter signup takes your name and email.

Contact and nomination messages reach us through Webflow and land in our inbox. Newsletter signups go to MailerLite, which runs our mailing list. Your email on the nomination form is there for one reason: so we can come back to you if we have a question about the person you named.

The person you nominate

A nomination is information about somebody else, so send only what you believe to be accurate and what you would be comfortable with them seeing. We may contact the person you name and tell them they were nominated. A nomination is not a promise that we will make an episode.

What is collected while you read

Our analytics record which pages you looked at, roughly where you are, taken from your IP address at the level of a city or region rather than an address, what kind of device and browser you are using, and how you arrived. That is Google Analytics, and it tells us how many people, not which people.

We also run the Meta pixel. It tells Meta that a visit happened, so we can see whether what we post on Facebook and Instagram actually brings anybody to an episode.

On top of that we record a short list of specific actions: starting a nomination, sending one, sending a contact message, signing up for the newsletter, clicking out to Apple Podcasts, Spotify, or YouTube, and clicking through to a featured organization's own site. These record that something happened. They do not record what you typed.

Things embedded from elsewhere

Episode pages carry a YouTube player and a Buzzsprout audio player, and the footer carries a MailerLite signup form. Each is run by somebody else and collects its own information under its own policy once it loads. The YouTube player is the one worth knowing about: it does not load at all until you press play. Until you do, the only thing fetched from Google is the still image you are looking at.

Who else sees it

We do not sell your information and we do not trade it. It reaches the companies that run parts of this site for us, which are Webflow for hosting and forms, Google for analytics, Meta for the pixel, MailerLite for the mailing list, and Buzzsprout for the audio player. Beyond those, nobody, unless the law requires it of us.

How long we keep it

Form submissions sit in Webflow and in our email until we clear them out. Newsletter details stay in MailerLite until you unsubscribe. Analytics data expires on Google's own schedule.

What you can do about it

Every newsletter email has an unsubscribe link at the bottom and it works straight away. Google publishes a browser add-on that switches off Google Analytics everywhere you go, and Meta's ad settings let you limit what the pixel is used for. Your browser can block or clear anything this site stores. The cookies page lists all of it.

Asking us to delete something

Write to us through the contact page and tell us what you would like removed. We will take it out of our own records and ask our mailing list provider to do the same.

Children

This site is not aimed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect anything from them. If you believe a child has sent us something, tell us and we will delete it.

Changes

We update this page when what we do changes, and the date at the top tells you when we last did.
